Football Helmets Come in Many Different Styles and Sizes, but Most All are Made by Riddell or Schutt.

There are essentially two producers of football helmets, Schutt and Riddell. Each of these companies are located in the United States. Let’s look at each business individually.

Schutt football helmets are widely utilized by colleges. Although Schutt doesn’t have licensing for the NFL groups, Schutt does have licensing for several school teams. Schutt helmets are effortlessly discovered on the field by looking at the back of the helmet. Unlike Riddell, Schutt does not have a back bumper at the base of the helmet. Additionally all of the Schutt helmets have holes in the top of their helmets for ventilation. The Schutt helmet appears to be bolder and a bit heavier than the Riddell helmet. The padding in the middle from the helmet also has a blue bladder that fills up with air for extra protection. Additionally, while Riddell has the license to show its name on the NFL field of play, several players use Schutt helmets but the title Schutt cannot be reflected on the helmet because of Riddell having the NFL license. Schutt calls their on field version an “Authentic” helmet. Schutt also makes a Full Size Replica along with a Mini Helmet for school teams too. The mini helmet version doesn’t have the holes in the top from the helmets.

Riddell has the NFL license too as a license to produce many school team helmets. Riddell also can make the helmet for that Canadian Football League. Traditionally, Riddell football helmets have not had holes in the top of their helmets. However, like Schutt, each businesses have developed a new model of helmet with bigger holes and grooves in the helmet mold. Riddell calls their on field helmet a “Pro Line” helmet. They also make Full Size Replicas and mini helmets for all NFL teams, several college groups and all the CFL teams.

Over the many years, the football helmets have changed. Presently Riddell make a line of helmets known as TK helmets. These helmets have the old suspension padding of many years ago and a 2 bar facemask. From here there are Throwback NFL helmets. These helmets possess the decoration of the older NFL helmets, but have the current padding and present style facemasks on the helmets. They are heavier in weight like the Pro Line helmets. Many Throwback NFL helmets are also obtainable in Full Size Replicas and in mini helmets too.

All of these helmets are available at National Sports Distributors in Cotati, California. They could be reached by calling (877) 466-6826 or by a Google search under National Sports Distributors.
